Aksaray University was founded on 17 March 2006 after separated from Niğde University. On 18 March 2007, Prof. Dr. Necdet Sağlam was appointed as the first rector.  As of April 2008, the number of students reached 4300, with 240 members of academic staff.

 

With the main campus located on the  Aksaray –Adana highway and the new Eastern campus under construction on the Aksaray-Nevşehir highway, Aksaray University is composed of the following divisions;
